From December 27 to 28, 2026, the Xiamen University – Chinese Economic Association UK/Europe Workshop on AI and Digital Economy & China Economics Education Forum was held at the Economics Building of Xiamen University. The event was jointly organized by the Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics, the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE), and the School of Economics at Xiamen University, the Chinese Economic Association UK/Europe, and the Digital Economy Strategy Committee of the Chinese Association of Development Strategy Studies.

Centered on the theme “AI and the Digital Transformation of Economy and Finance”, the two-day event featured keynote speeches by fourteen distinguished scholars and experts, covering cutting-edge topics such as AI governance, digital economy transformation, fintech innovation, and prevention and control of emerging financial risks. On December 28, a roundtable forum on China Economics Education was convened, bringing together participating experts and faculty members from XMU College of Economics to engage in in-depth discussions on key issues such as the innovative development of China’s economics education in the context of digital transformation, reform of talent cultivation models, and interdisciplinary integration. The discussion aimed to provide insights for advancing high-quality development in China’s economics education.
The event served as an important platform for fostering international exchanges in economics education. The intellectual exchanges and sharing of practices and insights among scholars from Chinese and UK universities offered diverse perspectives on the transformation and upgrading of China’s economics education in the age of AI.
