教育部人文社科重点研究基地——厦门大学宏观经济研究中心(CMR)Seminar Series。 Abstract: Many characteristics of the middle-income trap have appeared in today’s China. In order to develop into a high-income economy, China should find an appropriate development strategy to escape the middle-income trap. The paper shows that the human capital is the key factor to avoid falling into the middle-income trap. Since the human capital has many facets, our strategy to improve the Chinese human capital includes: take those research-based universities and scientific research institutions as the main gateway to approaching the technological frontier; improve the positive effects from learning by doing through professional education and on-job training programs; and improve the allocation efficiency of human capital by institutional reforms. |
