| 主讲人简介： | Howell Tong is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University and a Board Member of the Foundation of Tsinghua University Center for Advanced Study founded by Professor Chen-Ning Yang. He is also a Gregory Chow Distinguished Visiting Professor at Xiamen University and Emeritus Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Professor Tong was the founding Chair of the Department of Statistics and Data Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the founding Dean of the Graduate School and former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He has also served as Dean of the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Kent, Chair Professor and founding Director of the Center for the Analysis of Time Series at LSE, and Chair Professor of Statistics and Actuarial Science at HKU.
An internationally renowned statistician, Professor Tong is one of the pioneers of nonlinear time series analysis and the founder of the threshold time series model. He has made outstanding contributions to the field of statistics and time series, and has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Guy Medal in Silver of the Royal Statistical Society (UK), the National Natural Science Award (Class II) of China, the Distinguished Achievement Award of the International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA), and the HKU Distinguished Research Achievement Award.
Professor Tong is the first ethnic Chinese elected as a Foreign Member of Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (Mathematics Section). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the International Statistical Institute, and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK). He has held honorary and distinguished professorships at the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National University of Singapore (as Saw Swee Hock Chair Professor), the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and the University of Bologna (Italy), among others.
He has also served as President of the Hong Kong Statistical Society, Chair of the European Regional Committee of the Bernoulli Society, Member of the ICSA Awards Committee, and Member of the Honours Committee of the Royal Statistical Society (UK). Professor Tong has been an Associate Editor or Editorial Board Member of leading journals such as JRSSB, Biometrika, and Statistica Sinica, as well as Editor or Board Member of several book series. |
